Erste e Neue 2023 Lagrein Alto-Adige

A distinct mountain-style red from the Dolomites of northeastern Italy. With blue fruit, refreshing acidity and a punch wildflower-like aroma, Lagrein is a great warm weather red! Erste e Neue is the merging of two historic winemaking houses, the Erste Kellerei (1900) and the Neue Kellerei (1925). They joined in 1986 to faithfully promote the wines of Alto-Adige. It is a cooperative of 500 local growers, all growing organic, with winemaking led by Oenologist Gerhard Sanin. I love how versatile this wine is with the grill, soaking up the char and spice while keeping your palate calibrated for the meal to come.
