7/28 Sicilia

7/28 Sicilia

With European, Mediterranean and Arabic cultures all converging across this untamed territory full of old vines, bucolic villages and one very active volcano, Sicily is one exciting place to visit. Capers, olives, oranges, lemons, pistachios and almonds all grow in abundance. When the Phoenician's first arrived they called the area "Entorea" or "land of the vine", for its abundance of grape varietals.

In this tasting, we delve into Sicily's history and geography against a backdrop of 7 wines spanning Vittoria, Mount Etna, Messina, Palermo and Marsala. We will discuss history, geography, major grapes and players. Special attention will be paid to the wines of Mount Etna in the northeast.
