RETAIL: Arrivals

There are a few exciting arrivals to the shop this February, first of the year! We have a complex rosato from old vines on Mount Etna, a superbly crafted Barolo from one of its most historic families, and a slew of fun (and dry) non-alcoholic botanical sodas inspired by Italian amaro. Read on...

Girolamo Russo 2024 Etna Rosato Sicilia $43

Girolamo Russo Etna Rosato is a complex rosato from old vines on the northern slopes of Etna. So expressive, lean and beautiful, his 2024 is a touch herbaceous to contrast the fresh strawberries and minerality on the palate. A great match for the cool California weather.

Oddero 2020 Barolo Classico Piemonte $75

There is a lot of magic found in “village-level” Barolo these days and Oddero’s 2020 is a standout. Assembled from fruit in both La Morra and Castiglione Falletto, there is a completeness to this wine I love. On the nose, it has a leaner fruit profile with more minerals and classic dried red flowers. The palate is a deeper experience, showing a plushness of dark red fruit lifted by some persistent acidity.

Casamara Non-Alcoholic Botanical Sodas

These aromatic sparkling beverages are made from botanicals inspired by Italian Amaro, a bitter elixir to aid in the digestion process after a long meal. They are light, fun, dry and intensely aromatic. Erica Johnson and Jason LaValla created Casamara to prove non-alcoholic products can be interesting. In their own words, “Each botanical is extracted separately, then blended with real sugar into balanced formulas. Recipes are developed for chefs and bartenders who understand how drinks work with food: dry enough to pair, complex enough to stand alone.”

Casamara Sera $4.50/btl

“Riviera style, apero spritz aromatics. Tart grapefruit with delicate spice. Ruby grapefruit and cinnamon, bracingly bitter.”

Casamara Como $4.50/btl

“Alpine style, mountain amaro aromatics. Cooling citrus with breezy wildflower notes. Chamomile and peppermint, mentholated and herbal.”

Casamara Alta $4.50/btl

“Pink citrus bite with warm, fruity spice. Chinotto from Calabria meets juniper and orris root. Reminiscent of a Negroni.”

Casamara Onda $4.50/btl

“Sicilian style, coastal amaro aromatics. Coastal citrus with leafy green sage. Wild Mediterranean sage over lemon and chinotto.
