WINECLASS: Terreno Vulcanico

  • Altovino 1358 Mason Street San Francisco, CA, 94133 United States (map)

Nebbia

Volcanic wine seems to occupy a class of their own. Produced either within a volcanic event or in the shadow of one long past, there is something unique about their expression in the glass. Whether it be the complex and ever-changing topography of Mount Etna or the result of an event thousands of years ago in northern Piemonte, these wines all share a common trait: energy and intense aromas

In this immersive tasting experience, attendees will sit back, sip and learn all about where volcanoes come from and the effect they have on grapes grown within striking distance. Etna, Lipari, Veneto, Basilicata and more... we will dive into these important regions and discover the effects that volcanic soils, both active and ancient, have on these important wines. Discover the magic of volcanic soils from hotspots across the Mediterranean in this educational and very tasty exploration.
