7/22 Il Mediterraneo

7/22 Il Mediterraneo

The Adriatic, Ionian and Tyrrhenian Mediterranean Oceans dominate the Italian peninsula. Its moderating influence is a vital counterbalance to Italy’s continental climate, lengthening the days and imbuing grapes with smooth and sometimes salty personality. Millions of years ago, much of Italy was engulfed in the ocean and remnants of this time are scattered throughout.

In this exploratory tasting, we visit 7 winemaking areas within striking distance of the Mediterranean ocean. We will begin with a brief discussion about geography, soil and elevation, before diving into the glass to analyze each wine and the stories behind them.

Regions visited: Sicily, Liguria, Sardegna, Le Marche, Campania and Toscana
