A gorgeous expression from this old school winemaking house in the heart of Barbaresco, showing the brawn of 2021. Give this a little runway in the decanter and it will unfurl, showing refined red fruit, tightknit tannin and heady aromas. Cantina del Pino has a deep history in Barbaresco. The property belonged to Domizio Cavazza, the head of the Royal Enological School in Alba in 1888. Cavazza surprised everyone by forgoing an apartment in Alba for a farmhouse in Barbaresco. He is instrumental to the rise of the first wines. called Barbaresco. After his passing in the early 1900’s, the Vacca family stepped in and have been running the estate ever since. The Cantina del Pino signature style follows the traditional recipe, with extended time on the skins and in large barrel, changing only with the addition of neutral barrique (smaller French barrels bent by fire), adding atmosphere to the distinct expression of Nebbiolo.
