Farmstead Classes!

Back in April of this year, I travelled to Italy for 3 weeks for the annual wine event Vinitaly, as well as a little vacation in Piemonte. During my last evening in Verona, I had dinner with friend and importer Giuseppe Locascio who introduced me to the new owner of Farmstead Cheese & Wine Dave Chambers. Located in Montclair and Alameda, Farmstead is a rockstar of a shop, with an incredible selection of hand-picked cheese and wine that change each month. Dave and I immediately hit it off, quickly discovering a mutual love for enjoying quality wines without the pomp and circumstance so often associated with the wine business. As we sipped espresso and grappa into the wee hours, we made a plan.

Introducing my newest partnership: educational wine tastings to take place at Farmstead in Montclair. Utilizing Dave’s incredible selection of wines, cheeses and antipasto delicacies imported from France, Italy and Spain, I will lead participants on journey all over the wine world. Dave and I will be selecting wines and food to pair together, and BONUS, you can purchase anything you drink and eat during class for home!

We kick of this new series with a fun meet & greet tasting featuring 5 of Italy’s native grapes: Arneis from Piemonte, Vermentino from Liguria, Schiava from Alto-Adige, Ciliegolo from Toscana and Monica from Sardegna.

These educational tastings are not what you might find in a classroom setting at a school or restaurant. Around the table we dive into place, people and culture, and how unlocking the context of a wine can reveal its identity.

Wine is made by farmers and intended to be enjoyed by everyone, and the joy of learning about this wonderful beverage is best experienced among like-minded individuals in common pursuit of a greater understanding. Join us!!
