The world of Italian wine has many great players. Often these talents worked alone, in obscurity, pushing the boundaries of the establishment in order to further a vision of their regions wines. In this patriarchal society where women are expected to remain at home to tend to children, the home and crops, it is all the more astounding to learn many of these trendsetters are in fact women.

In this very special Mother’s Day class, sommelier Paul will introduce 7 female winemakers who have broken that patriarchal mold. From Piemonte, Veneto, Tuscany and Sicily, these stories of perseverance have inspired countless girls to take on the family business. Paul will discuss each producer’s evolution from aspiration to implementation through 7 wines, while briefly covering their regions geography and philosophy of winemaking.
