Caruso e Minini 2023 Grillo Bio Sicily

Caruso e Minini is in the far northwestern corner of Sicilia nestled in the Trapani hills of Marsala. They are two families joined together to promote the native grapes of Sicilia. Stefano Caruso broke ground in 2004 and today, his daughters Giovanna and Rosanna manage 120 hectar not far from the Mediterranean. They grow Catarratto, Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Inzolia, Nerello Mascalese and this Grillo. The family is dedicated to farming organically at altitudes of 200-450 meters. The Grillo is their flagship wine, sourced from biodynamically farmed vines located on the “Bricco” or top of the hill. After a brief cold maceration, the wine is then aged in a mix of French and acacia wood, coaxing out the fleshy character and weight of Marsala’s famous grape.
