Ciavolich 2024 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Abruzzo
Ciavolich 2024 Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Abruzzo
A full and juicy Cerasuolo rose produced from Montepulciano grapes in Abruzzo, home to charcoal-fired cuisine known as arrosticini. Originally known as an after-harvest gift to tired workers, Cerasuolo is a fuller style of rose destined for the dinner table. It packs a punch on the palate, showing juicy red fruit and a little grip, perfect for the grill. Ciavolich has a storied history in Abruzzo dating back to 1560, with winemaking beginning in the mid 1800’s. During this time, they built a famous subterranean wine cellar in the province of Chieti, which stands today as an example of Abruzzo’s winemaking past. In the 1960’s, the family inherited a 50 hectar estate in Pescara called Loreto Aprutino and began to produce wine for themselves. Today, they own 2 estates across Pescara, focusing on Montepulciano, Trebbiano and the obscure Cococciola grape.
