Falvio Roddolo 2012 Barbera d’Alba Superiore
Falvio Roddolo 2012 Barbera d’Alba Superiore
Brawny, layered and evolved Barbera from an uncompromising winemaker in Barolo. Flavio Roddolo’s wines are austere in their youth, promising real beauty down the road. Well, we have arrived with this 2012 Barbera d’Alba Superiore, a beautifully crafted red that unfolds gracefully and fully. Macerated cherries, Aleppo pepper and black tea are just a few alluring notes I jotted down at a recent tasting. Flavio farms a few hectar of vines organically with biodynamic preparations, at high altitudes in the Monforte d’Alba of Barolo. He ferments naturally and ages in large neutral casks for several years.
