Gaetano di Carlo 2024 Nero d'Avola Animoso Rosso Corleone Sicilia
Gaetano di Carlo 2024 Nero d'Avola Animoso Rosso Corleone Sicilia
Totally unique Nero d'Avola! Grown at high altitudes south of Palermo, this is a lively and beautifully crisp red, on the verge of chill-able yet with a juicy mid palate and charming red fruit. A yummy glass for day of cooking in the kitchen.
Gaetano di Carlo is a small winery in the village of Corleone (yup, that one) south of Palermo in the Val di Mazara of Sicilia. In 2019, Gaetano gathered his family of farmers, in particular his uncle, to break ground on a new winery. Their small holdings are located on a geographical anomaly in Sicily: a mountain range that bears striking resemblance to Alto-Adige Dolomites! Gaetano farms Nero d’Avola organically at 600m on old limestone soils that can be traced back thousands of years ago to the neolithic age. Raised in stainless steel with extended time on the skins, this is perhaps the most interesting Nero d’Avola on the market today.
