Milziade Antano 2021 Montefalco Rosso ‘white label’ Umbria
Milziade Antano 2021 Montefalco Rosso ‘white label’ Umbria
My favorite Montefalco Rosso is from Milziade Antano, a dark and spicy red from one of the area’s best kept secrets. The Antano’s craft a brooding rosso that packs layered fruit, baking spices and forest-like earthiness all into an easy-drinking red. Milziade Antano a benchmark family in the Montefalco region of central Umbria. Francesco Antano runs operations today and follows in his father’s footsteps of cask aged wines of finesse and longevity. He encourages a biodiverse ecosystem in the vineyard to grow healthy grapes and works in the winery with minimal intervention. They farm 20 hectar of vines in the Bevagna area of Montefalco and were among the first families to do so in the 1970’s.
