A structured and polished Rosso di Montalcino from Paincornello, an estate in southern Montalcino. Wow, this wine pushes the edges of the rosso category, showing tightly wound fruit, mint and underbrush, yet still so drinkable. Piancornello is located in the Sesta area of southern Montalcino, facing the sunny and warm Orcia Valley. Zefirio Pieri purchased this estate in the 1950 with its vineyards and 17th century farmhouse. It wasn’t until the 1990’s when 3rd generation Claudio and his mom Silvana Pieri produced the first vintage. Piancornello enjoys a Mediterranean influenced climate with steep rocky hills, yielding wines with power and finesse.
