This is seriously yummy Valpolicella from the limestone and volcanic hills of Fumane. I had no idea these wines could be so polished and light on their feet. Coming in just under a medium body, there are no rough edges here, just ebullient fruit and a refreshing finish. Secondo Marco is a newish winery in the Fumane valley of Valpolicella. Marco Speri leads operations, a member of the prestigious Speri family who first tended vines in Valpolicella in the early 1900’s. Marco diverged from the family in 2008 and purchased this property. He employs native yeast fermentation in concrete vessels and ages in large cask.
