One of the great families of Barbaresco are the Marchesi di Gresy. They occupy a single vineyard called Martinenga and have been making gorgeous long-lived Barbaresco there since the 1970's. This bottle of 2009 is a densely compact and earthy Barbaresco, showing its age as it unfolds in the glass. 2009 was a warm vintage all around and you feel it in the glass, with its mix of stewed fruit and earthy spicy aromas. Meant to drink now.
