Tiezzi 2016 Brunello di Montalcino ‘Poggio Cerrino’ Toscana

Carefully crafted Sangiovese from one of Montalcino’s secret talents, Dr Enzo Tiezzi. Poggio Cerrino is a one of Enzo’s prized vineyards located NE of the town with vines over 50 years old. 2016 was a robust vintage yielding meaty wines that will age gracefully over time. Out of the gate, this wine is on full display, showing a mature nose of roasted fruit, integrated spices and forest floor. Tiezzi is old school so expect little evolution, but this Brunello is speaking loudly right out of the bottle. Since 1958, Enzo has been instrumental in the success of some of the most important estates in Tuscany (Poggio alle Mura in the 60s, Col d’ Orcia in the 70s and Argiano in the 80s). In 1989, he secured a few hectars in the prestigious area of southern Montalcino, all while acting as president of the Brunello Consorzio in Montalcino! His wines are soulful expressions of Sangiovese crafted in the traditional way.
