Tiezzi 2017 Brunello di Montalcino ‘Poggio Cerrino’ Toscana

Tiezzi 2017 Brunello di Montalcino ‘Poggio Cerrino’ Toscana

Carefully crafted Sangiovese from one of Montalcino’s secret talents, Dr Enzo Tiezzi. Poggio Cerrino is a one of Enzo’s prized vineyards located NE of the town with vines over 50 years old. 2017 was a warm-ish vintage yielding fruit-driven wines that will soften over time. Out of the gate, this wine is on full display, showing a punch of spice and layered dark fruit. Since 1958, Enzo has been instrumental in the success of some of the most important estates in Tuscany (Poggio alle Mura in the 60s, Col d’ Orcia in the 70s and Argiano in the 80s). In 1989, he secured a few hectars in the prestigious area of southern Montalcino, all while acting as president of the Brunello Consorzio in Montalcino! His wines are soulful expressions of Sangiovese crafted in the traditional way.
