DINNER: Abruzzo

Get ready for an intimate evening of wine, food and discussion on one of Italy’s iconic regions for wine and food, Abruzzo!

Rising star Frederica Topi of Terraviva and importer Giuseppe LoCascio will be in town on Thursday 10/12 and we have planned a fun evening presenting her families wines alongside a 4 course menu prepared by friend and frequent collaborator Chef Alessandro Campitelli!

Join us, as we dive into the history, geography and the culture of winemaking in Abruzzo through the eyes of the Terraviva portfolio of wines. Chef Alessandro Capitelli, whose mother is from Abruzzo, has created a beautiful 4 course menu inspired by some of the dishes he grew up with. With a sommelier, winemaker and importer as your guide, we will discover this distinct region through 7 wines. Link below to purchase tickets.

Terraviva Wines

Pietro and his two children are the team behind Terraviva, a certified organic and biodynamic farm near Teramo, Abruzzo. The vineyards benefit from both the cold winds blowing down from the Gran Sasso mountains and the mitigating effects of the Adriatic Sea. Winemaking is essential and low-intervention: just estate grown organic & biodynamic grapes and natural yeasts. Only minimal amounts of sulfites are used at bottling. All plots are harvested separately yielding wines of crisp, clear varietal character, vibrant freshness and remarkable balance.

Giuseppe Locascio

Giuseppe is a co-owner of Lucidity Imports with Iacopo DiTeodoro. They represent wines that are clear expressions of the grape(s) they are made from, of the place where they are made and of the grower that has made them. For Lucidity, clarity of expression is paramount and more important than dogmatic winemaking. They only work with small, artisanal winegrowers practicing sustainable/organic/ biodynamic farming and low-intervention winemaking.

Chef & Sommelier

Alessandro and Paul have been working together for years, ever since a chance encounter brought them together at Chiaroscuro Ristorante in SF. Since then, they have produced numerous private dinners and wine events together, in clients homes as well as business across the Bay Area. They specialize in pairing regional cuisine across Italy, from ancient to modern, with some of the most exciting wines in production today.
